ANIMATION FOR TECHNOLOGY & ENGINEERING

Technical animation. Clear explanations.

Help customers understand how your technology works. I create animated explainers, product demonstrations and process animations for technology and engineering businesses. From the first idea to the finished film, you’ll work directly with me, Richie Phillips, a motion designer based in Leicester and working across the UK.

01

Make the process visible.

Show what happens inside a product or system, explain the steps and connect the technical detail to what matters to your audience.

For Advanced Energy, I animated an explanation of power delivery in data centre racks, including the move from 12 V to 48 V and DC-to-DC conversion. I worked with Shaun Taylor at Idee Creative, who created the assets.

02

Bring whatever you have.

Just an idea? I can manage the script, storyboards, design and animation.

Have an approved script? I can develop the visuals and animate it.

Have artwork ready? I can handle the animation and work alongside your designers. We’ll agree the approach with your technical team before production gets under way.

03

Build it around the job.

A website explainer, a sales presentation, a product launch or an exhibition screen: the audience and setting shape the film.

We can plan a main animation with shorter edits, captions or looping versions where useful. Length, formats, revision rounds, budget and timing are agreed for each project.

A few useful answers.

What kinds of technical work have you animated?

My portfolio includes data centre power systems for Advanced Energy, a packaging process for Goodyear and product content for DeWalt. Tell me what you need to explain so we can discuss the right visual approach for your subject.

How do we keep the technical explanation accurate?

Your team supplies the product knowledge, reference material and approved claims. We check the script and storyboards together before animation, then review the work at agreed stages. You retain approval of the technical content.

What should I send to get started?

Send a short explanation of your product or process, who needs to understand it and where the animation will be used. Existing presentations, diagrams, scripts, brand assets or reference videos are useful, but you don’t need all of them. Include your deadline and an indication of budget.

How much does technical animation cost?

I quote for the agreed scope. The main factors are the length and complexity, whether we’re starting with an idea or supplied assets, and the versions you need. Share your brief and I’ll suggest an approach that fits the project.
